What do we see in the future

What do we see in the future ?

First fact about the future is that it is not present.

Technology has been making leaps in the last decade, but the human mind has been creating worlds that did not exist, right from the days of expressing their thoughts in caves. Yes, we have a world now, where entering a cave is an adventure, which was considered a safe haven before we started building our own houses. That is why when I think of metaverse as the space which is going to be part of our day to day work, celebration and hobbies, we might jump into thoughts of a world apart from reality where everything is digitalized and we are in the middle of an uncontrolled chaos.

That would be an utter waste of the big ball called earth. Now, the world we dream of, is something in the near future that gives us more time back to us. Don’t you think we are in this great wheel that keeps running and if you stop, you will tumble and go humpty dumpty. Now think of metaverse as a place where you can pause the entire world just to take more in. Yes, metaverse is going to be the key to predict the future : like creating prototype for your product, a factory trying to measure its productivity gains, a community evaluating the experience for its followers, a pre match simulation that builds the momentum, a key to unlock creative freedom with no worries of failure. Comprehend it all, these are already happening.

We have had use cases in our small experiences of getting people trained in factories, that are under construction. Allowing college students to prototype their race car virtually. Build an audit platform that is making life easier for businesses to do gap analysis. Construction companies that want to run multiple configurations before finalizing what is the best model they can work with. Now is the moment to take that risk, without worrying about hurting yourself or others in the most visually immersive decision making paradigm.

Now how about snapshotting times – yes you can freeze moments in time entirely to rewind and experience it again, this could look like a page from ready player me. The fact is, ever since we took photographs, we started freezing moments. The only difference in here is that in those moments we could have missed out something happening behind us. With 360 experiences now you can focus on everything. With LIDAR, NERF and some more magic of the emerging technologies, AI is able to create not just what we missed behind, it also gives us a chance to view things better. Now you just do not have to keep a photo of a person in memory, you can capture the person in spatial 3D allowing few more moments in future with them. Industries can bring all their expertise in handling high values assets into virtual spaces. This language of learning called experiential learning is going to be the key to keep us building many wonders and not just think on how could to build such massive structures. Subject Matter Experts(SME), can keep sharing their knowledge and be connected to what they like doing for lifelong, without worrying about travel and fatigue. What about critical failures, we can recreate entire troubleshooting activity helping Industries have a shorter TAT(Turn Around Time).

When you want to do something in the future we should know what is happening now and what happened before. Why do we have an encyclopaedia with images? This is to provide us a visual diagram of what the words say. Now consider walking into your present city, you are hungry and you are standing in a busy street, you want to have a light breakfast quickly before work. You search for visual cues to identify which would be the restaurant that suits you. You walk a few steps and find a hotel but its crowded and you get tensed a little, seems to be your kind of place but you do not know if you can wait long. Then, you take your mobile phone and run across your map application to identify the nearest one to your taste. So, what do you think can improve this experience in the future? It is simple. You would like your past experiences (preferences and options) to be added to the current situation (busy street) and get a quicker decision. So, using technology we can now find all the current options nearby to solve a future problem.

Every technology that we carry now in hand helps in making our decision making clearer. A smart glass from the future (yes, we are not there yet) would be able to understand you better, be conversational, make the world personalized to you and yes highlight from the world around what you need for that moment to solve your problems for the day ahead. You walk into a shop, look at an item scan its QR code, either make the payment to the shop or compare it with market price. It is your vision that will drive the glasses adoption.

When you think of metaverse next time do not think of something away from reality. It is indeed the bridge to make technology adopt to a better reality personalized for you.
